The Memorial Garden was dedicated in April 2009 as a tribute to all organ and tissue donors in Illinois and all the Biological Resource Center donors from all over the country. The Biological Resource Center is proud to have the first Memorial Garden of its kind in the country. Through these tough times we understand the growing costs of a traditional burial. Starting in April 2010 Biological Resource Center will bury the cremated remains of those donors requesting to be buried here. Each donors name along with date of birth and date of death will be inscribed in a marker which will be placed over the grave. (Burial marker designs have not been completed.) Each year in April, in coordination with Donate Life Month, the remains of our donors will be buried in these graves. Notification and invitations to these burials will be sent to the next-of-kin of the donors being buried. We invite you to stop by the garden any time to plant a flower or say a prayer to all those who gave the ultimate gift of life. If you are the next-of-kin of a Biological Resource Center Donor and would wish to have your loved ones remains buried in the memorial garden you have until February 1, 2010 to notify us of your request.
